A documentary honouring the legacy of Bonginkosi “Zola 7" Dlamini is set to be released with Certified Classics before the release of his upcoming album.

The documentary, which is an eponym to his debut album, is set to air on August 20 on SABC 1 and will feature the Lwandle hit maker, Maggz, Proverb, and pH Raw X among many others. It will showcase the origins and cultural impact of Zola’s 2000 debut album uMdlwembe that changed kwaito forever as well as the characters and conditions that gave birth to music that has shaped generations.

“The dream to make uMdlwembe is one thing every young person wants in their lives, to get that break that pushes everything over. uMdlwembe was my break and it came together with Yizo Yizo at the same time. All the things I wanted and prayed for were happening.”

Zola 7 said he was filled with gratitude to have been able to witness the impact of his career and what it continues to do.

“It was absolutely amazing for me, and I come from ekasi where these things are constantly drilled in your head that they won't happen. Then we became the generation that proved anything is possible. I know there are a lot of people who are going to look back and say it happened. It gave birth to a lot of people who did a lot of other things, which is satisfying on my side. Thank you so much for all these years, talking about my house, my life, I wouldn't be here if it wasn't for you. I'm humbled. Thank you.”

Throughout the years Zola 7 has left his mark in all aspects of the entertainment space.

While there were concerns about his health on social media in 2020, he is gearing towards the release of new album.

Synonymous with his legacy of giving back, he has partnered with Beat Makers Market to discover up and coming producers to create beats for his songs.

“Guluva Nation, don't get left behind if you are a producer. Enter the Beat Makers Market August Kwaito Beats Challenge to stand a chance to compete in the Beat Maker of the Year 2023 Beat Battles. This is your chance to work on a song with me,” he captioned his post on Instagram.
